Amanda Horzyk

Amanda Horzyk is a doctoral researcher in Designing Responsible Natural Language Processing and tutor in Data and AI Ethics at the University of Edinburgh’s Futures Institute. As a Master of Laws in Innovation, Technology and the Law, she specialises in Internet Law, Artificial Intelligence Regulation, Policy and AI Ethics and its impact on human rights. Her expertise lies at the nexus of European law and data-driven technologies affecting copyright, data protection and privacy, and the right to non-discrimination. Motivated by interdisciplinary research she brings technical and socio-legal expertise together to translate digital policy aspirations into practice. Her research interests encompass work on algorithmic transparency and AI-assisted decision-making, by-design laws, AI-literacy, data scrapping, predictive analytics, AI-driven advertising. She coordinates the AI, Law and Regulation Section of the International Neural Networks Society and serves in multiple advisory roles and working groups across human-rights and ethics-oriented initiatives.
