Our Founders
The group of founders involves Michelangelo Baracchi Bonvicini, Luciano Floridi and Robert Madelin.
Michelangelo Baracchi Bonvicini founded Atomium-EISMD with the former French President Valéry Giscard d’Estaing. The Institute convenes European universities, media, global businesses, governments and policymakers to develop innovative initiatives and frontier thinking based on scientific evidence to provide evidence-based analysis and advice in governmental and decision-making processes. In 2018 he launched AI4People Institute with Luciano Floridi.
Luciano Floridi is world-renowned as one of the most authoritative voices of contemporary philosophy. He is considered to be the founding father of the philosophy of information and one of the major interpreters of the digital revolution. In 2018 he launched AI4People Institute with the support of Atomium-EISMD.
Robert Madelin is the former Director-General DG Connect, European Commission. He is a policy thinker with four decades of public policy experience in the UK administration and the EU. Robert brings to our collaboration his experience in health, technology and consumer policy, and his knowledge of self- and co-regulation. Robert Madelin holds an Honorary Doctorate of the University of Edinburgh, and is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London.
